Evia Museums - Archaeological Museum of Eretria

The Museum of Eretria is one of the most important museums of its kind throughout Greece, exhibits artifacts from various time periods. The most valuable items of the collection are the sculptures of Apollo and especially the combination of Theseus and the amazone Antiopi. The building of the museum belongs to the Greek state while the expansion with a second master hall was financed by the Archeological School of Swizerland. Most of the artifacts are from the area of Eretria and cover the all periods from the Bronze Age to the Roman Period.

The Archaeological Museum of Karystos is housed in the west wing of Giakaliou Spiritual Centre and also has a Theater and a Libraby. Its archeological collection includes:

• Karystian Sculptures
• Items and tools from ancient houses in Ochis and Styron
• Ancient Epigraphs
• Clay figurines from different time periods from the area of Karystia.

The Archaeological Museum of Chalkida is housed in the centre of the town and its collection comprises of findings from around Evia which are exhibited in chronological order from the Paleolithic to Late Roman Period. The collection includes findings from the settlement and cemetery of Manika (2800-1900BC), Mycenaean ceramics and figurines, Classic and Hellenistic coins from Chalkida, Eretria and Karysto, Roman sculptures from Chalkida and Edipsos, tombstones and monuments from Chalkida.

The Archaeological Museum of Skyros comprises of 2 halls which display various findings from the archeological sites of the island and date back to the Pre-Hellenistic period (2800-1900BC) up to the Roman times.
