Thessaloniki International Airport (Makedonia), with flights from across Europe and from Athens all year, is the gateway to northern Greece. Paralia Katerinis is about an hour away by taxi or transfer.

There are no ferries from Paralia Katerinis. The nearest island ports are Volos, about an hour and a half south, for Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos, and Thessaloniki, about an hour north, which has no regular year-round island routes.

Getting around

Recommended. Buses link Paralia Katerinis with Katerini, and trains on the Athens–Thessaloniki line stop at Katerini and Litochoro, but a car makes it much easier to reach Mount Olympus trailheads such as Prionia, ancient Dion, Platamonas castle and the beaches.
