By air
Volos Airport at Nea Anchialos has seasonal flights from Europe; otherwise fly into Thessaloniki, about two and a half hours away by road, or Athens, about three and a half. South Pelion is about an hour away by taxi or transfer.
By ferry
The nearest port is Volos, about 45 minutes away by road. It has ferries and fast boats to Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos, so a few days on the Sporades combine easily with Pelion.
Getting around
Essential. Buses from Volos to South Pelion are infrequent, and Pelion’s villages and beaches are linked by steep, winding mountain roads. A car is the only practical way to explore, from the stone villages to the beaches of the Aegean and Pagasetic coasts.
