Volos Airport at Nea Anchialos has seasonal flights from Europe; otherwise fly into Thessaloniki, about two and a half hours away by road, or Athens, about three and a half. Zagora is about an hour and a half away by taxi or transfer.

The nearest port is Volos, about an hour away by road. It has ferries and fast boats to Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos, so a few days on the Sporades combine easily with Pelion.

Getting around

Essential. Buses from Volos to Zagora are infrequent, and Pelion’s villages and beaches are linked by steep, winding mountain roads. A car is the only practical way to explore, from the stone villages to the beaches of the Aegean and Pagasetic coasts.
