Transportation
Port of Nea Moudania
By air
Thessaloniki International Airport (Makedonia), with flights from across Europe and from Athens all year, is the gateway to northern Greece. Nea Moudania is about 45 minutes away by taxi or transfer.
By ferry
There are no regular island ferries from Nea Moudania. In summer, cruise boats explore the coast, and from Ouranoupoli boats sail along Mount Athos, which only male pilgrims with a permit may visit; Tripiti has a short ferry to Ammouliani. For Thasos, Kavala is about two and a half hours away.
Getting around
Recommended. KTEL buses link Nea Moudania with Thessaloniki and the other Kassandra resorts, quite often in summer, but a car makes it much easier to explore the peninsula’s beaches and to take day trips to Sithonia, Mount Athos boat tours and Thessaloniki.
