By air

Thessaloniki International Airport (Makedonia), with flights from across Europe and from Athens all year, is the gateway to northern Greece. Pefkochori is about an hour and a quarter away by taxi or transfer.

There are no regular island ferries from Pefkochori. In summer, cruise boats explore the coast, and from Ouranoupoli boats sail along Mount Athos, which only male pilgrims with a permit may visit; Tripiti has a short ferry to Ammouliani. For Thasos, Kavala is about two and a half hours away.

Getting around

Recommended. KTEL buses link Pefkochori with Thessaloniki and the other Kassandra resorts, quite often in summer, but a car makes it much easier to explore the peninsula’s beaches and to take day trips to Sithonia, Mount Athos boat tours and Thessaloniki.
